Creating embedded links in Apple Mail is really easy and it makes your emails much more readable. Your readers will appreciate it and you avoid problems with broken URLs. Here's how to create embedded links.
First you have to go to the web page to which you want to send your reader. Then you need to copy the URL from the address window. (OK, so this is a bit ridiculous - but you get what I mean.)
Now you paste the URL into your email. WHAT A MESS! I know that when folks receive emails, the link is highlighted. But sometimes a link gets broken in transit, or even when you're copying it. If that happens, the link doesn't work and the recipient would have to type, letter for letter, the entire URL into their web browser.
A better way is to HIGHLIGHT the text you want to turn into a link. Then hold down the Command key and press the "k" key. This pops up a window into which you can paste that ridiculously long URL.
Ah, doesn't that look better. And that ridiculous URL is still there, active and clickable.
NOTE: If you try to click on the link while you are writing your email, it will not work. If, however, you save your email and look at it in your "Drafts" folder, the link will be active and you can click it just to check to make sure it's working as you want.
